The superiority lies entirely in the fact that men do not require tight, form-fitting blue jeans. They exist, but it's practically impossible to find jeans that you could go hiking or gardening in in women's sections, and that's what I need. Any women's jeans I try on are too tight around my legs, which means that the pockets are unusable, and if they fit my legs comfortably the waist is so loose that they don't stay up.
These generalizations only hold for pants that cost less than $30. I suppose if I were willing to pay more I could find what I'm after, but I'm not, so I make do in the men's department.
